Our Markets
Operating exclusively in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, we provide professional engineering services and develop ecological solutions for our clients from our Principal Office in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Many water resources and aquatic habitats have become degraded over time resulting in lost ecological functions and services. Restoring streams, rivers and floodplains helps watersheds and ecosystems recover from years of degradation and disturbance. Using our specialized expertise in ecology, hydrology, hydraulics and fluvial processes, we work with clients to design resilient ecological solutions that restore natural riverine habitats, functions and processes. Our Ecosystem Restoration Services include:
- Compensatory mitigation
- Stream and river restoration
- Floodplain and wetland restoration
- Dam removal
Humans have a complex relationship with rivers and their watersheds. Rivers are critical sources of water for drinking and irrigation and their valleys provide corridors for public infrastructure, transportation and recreation. However, frequently our means and methods for developing these resources are not sustainable and harmful to the river and its watershed. We work with clients to responsibly design solutions that enhance and protect riverine infrastructure in way that maintains ecosystem functions and delivers critical benefits people and communities.
- Raw water intake (RWI) enhancement and protection
- Greenway and roadway protection
- Culvert and bridge crossings
- Reservoirs, dams and spillways
Water quality management is a critical component of maintaining healthy rivers and watersheds. We work with our clients to collect and analyze data, develop watershed restoration plans, control point source pollution, implement stormwater control measures (SCMs), and stabilize eroding stream and river banks. We use GIS data and mapping software, on-the-ground field work, hydrologic and water quality models, and years practical engineering experience to develop targeted water quality management solutions.
- Watershed planning
- Stream and river bank stabilization
- Treatment wetlands
- Stormwater control measures
